DHAKA, April 04, 2025 (BSS) - A special rescue and medical team led by the Bangladesh Armed Forces is still conducting rescue operations in Myanmar for the victims of earthquake that struck the country on March 28.
In line with the directives of the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Prof Muhammad Yunus, the rescue team and medical team, under supervision of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, were sent to Myanmar on April 1, said a release of the Directorate of the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) today.
As part of their services, the search and rescue team conducted rescue operations in various areas, including Napido's Jabuthiri Township, in Myanmar.
With the help of the local administration and the fire service department, the team took part in the rescue operation of those who were trapped in several devastated buildings, recovering a body from the debris, the press release said.
Besides, a coordination meeting was held today involving the Myanmar Foreign Ministry, the Fire Service, Bangladesh's rescue team, and representatives from 16 countries.
The Bangladeshi team also provided healthcare services at the 50-Bed Li Way Hospital in Napido, the press release added.
Bangladesh team would continue its activities there through consultation with the local administration in Myanmar.
