BIWTA operates a sea truck on Cox's Bazar-Maheshkhali route on pilot basis

COX'S BAZAR, April 18, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) began operating a sea truck on the Cox's Bazar-Maheshkhali route on a pilot basis today.

The first trial operation of a sea-truck (ferry) on this route was started from Jetty Number-6 in Cox's Bazar city at 11.30 am.

BIWTA Director AKM Arif Uddin said that in view of the long-standing demand of the people of Maheshkhali, the government has started trial operation of the sea truck on Cox's Bazar-Maheshkhali route.

The official operation will be started later, he added.
