NLASO provides legal services in 4,21,364 cases since 2009

DHAKA, April 26, 2025 (BSS) – National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) from 2009 to 2025 has given support to the poor litigants of 4,21,364 cases.

According to a report published on the organization’s official website, out of those cases 2,15,241 were resolved and others are under trial.

The report detailed legal aid activities from 2009 to March 2025, highlighting the support to the indigent litigants.

During this period, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office provided legal assistance in 3,256 cases, resolving 2,286 of them. 

Legal Aid Offices in the 64 districts provided legal aid services in 4,13,687 cases, with 2,12,151 cases settled. 

Additionally, 4,421 cases were handled by the Dhaka and Chattogram Workers' Legal Aid Cells, out of which 804 cases were resolved.

The Legal Aid Services Act was enacted in 2000 aimed at supporting financially disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals in accessing justice.
 
In 2009 the government established the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs increasing the power and functions of legal aid.
