Dhaka, May 2, 2025 (BSS) - The Supreme Court (SC) has sent a letter to Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to set up separate courts for civil and criminal cases.
This information was revealed today in the news update on the website of the Supreme Court.
The news update highlighted the success of the Supreme Court Helpline.
In a press release, Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court's Appellate Division Shafiqul Islam said from beginning of the helpline service of the Supreme Court till April 20, a total of 2026 calls were received from across the country regarding legal advice, case related information and filing of complaints.
Out of 2026 calls, 1068 calls were received for legal advice and 771 calls for various information, he added.
In all cases, he said, the information was provided to the beneficiaries immediately.
Besides, different district courts of the country have launched their own helpline numbers on the model of Supreme Court's helpline. By calling all those helplines, service takers are expressing their satisfaction by receiving court related services immediately.
Shafiqul Islam said that the Supreme Court helpline number was launched on September 25 last year to assist any litigants or service takers coming to the Supreme Court if they face obstacles in receiving services in any branch of the Supreme Court.
Service can be taken from the helpline every Sunday to Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm except public holidays, he added.
He said WhatsApp and mobile app services are available on the helpline number.
Shafiqul Islam also said that a total of 34 complaints were received since September last year by the Chief Justice through the helpline for taking action against the officers and employees of various ministries, departments or branches.
As all those complaints were outside the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, the concerned officer-in-charge of the helpline provided necessary suggestions, he added.
