DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) today directed all international and domestic airports across the country to intensify security measures amid evolving security circumstances.

"We don't have any specific security threat ... we have taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of our passengers," CAAB Member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan told BSS this evening.

In an official order issued today, CAAB Member (Security) Air Commodore Md Asif Iqbal instructed all airport directors and officials to fully implement the Key Point Installation (KPI) security policy and maintain heightened vigilance to ensure passenger safety and operational integrity.

The directive underscored stricter supervision at airport entry points and operational areas, increased patrolling across restricted and boundary zones, and continuous 24-hour CCTV monitoring.

Only airport officials, employees, and authorized passengers will be allowed entry into the airport premises, while the general public will remain under stricter control, the circular added.

All passengers, cabin baggage, cargo, and vehicles must undergo thorough screening, it said, adding that random security inspections should be conducted regularly in terminal and operational areas.

The order further directed authorities to carry out daily checks of all security equipment-including scanners, Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), Explosive Trace Detectors (ETD), metal detectors, and CCTV systems-to ensure their full functionality.

Airport security personnel have been instructed to remain alert at all times, receive continuous briefings, and immediately report any suspicious activities or potential security concerns to higher authorities.

The directive also asked airport management to conduct regular risk assessments of gas and electrical lines and to maintain round-the-clock surveillance and alertness.

CAAB has asked all airport directors to submit compliance reports within three working days of receiving the directive.
