Nepal eyes deeper trade with Bangladesh: envoy

DHAKA, May 10, 2025 (BSS)- Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari has called for stronger partnership between Bangladeshi and Nepali businesses to boost cooperation in trade, tourism, energy, and connectivity.

He made the call when addressing a programme on “Nepal-Bangladesh Cooperation: Dynamics of Trade, Tourism, and Connectivity” held in Khulna on Friday, a press release of Nepalese embassy said here today.

The envoy said Bangladesh-Nepal economic cooperation is gaining momentum, particularly following recent energy trade breakthroughs and rising tourism exchanges.

The ambassador urged local business leaders to actively engage with their Nepali counterparts to unlock the untapped potential between the two countries in the area of economy.

Organized by the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka, the event brought together representatives from various chambers of commerce and industry, travel and tour operators, and members of the media.

Second Secretary of the Nepalese Embassy Yojana Bamjan delivered a presentation outlining key areas of bilateral collaboration.

The presentation was followed by an interactive session where participants raised questions and shared insights.

Police Commissioner of Khulna Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider, Additional Divisional Commissioner Debprosad Paul, and Khulna Chamber Administrator Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, ambassador Bhandari attended a children’s art competition and a drama exhibition titled Sundarboner Kothokata at Khulna District Shilpakala Academy, marking Khulna Day-2025.

Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized on promoting the age-old cultural and civilizational ties between Bangladesh and Nepal. He encouraged young artists to continue nourishing their creativity to strengthen people-to-people connections between the two nations.
