79 dengue patients hospitalized with one death in last 24 hours

DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 79 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, and one patient died during the same period.

Of the new cases, 18 were reported in Dhaka division, 40 in Barishal division (excluding BCC area), 14 in Chattogram division (excluding CCC area), six in Khulna division (excluding KCC area), and one in Sylhet division (excluding SCC area), according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today. 

Meanwhile, one death from dengue was reported and 70 patients were released from hospitals after receiving treatment.

With the latest figures, the total number of dengue cases in the country this year has risen to 3,666. Of them, 3,066 have recovered and 22 have died.

According to DGHS data, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths in 2024.
