Three-day land fair begins in Jhalakathi

JHALAKATHI, May 25, 2025 (BSS)- A three-day land fair has begun in the district with the aim of bringing digital land-related services at the doorstep of the common people.

Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Rahman inaugurated the fair today as the chief guest.

Marking the fair, a seminar titled "Land Service Automation, Existing Challenges and Roadmap for Overcoming them" was held in the Deputy Commissioner's conference room.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Antara Halder presided over the event while Additional District Magistrate Md. Touhidul Islam delivered the keynote speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ICT) Shakila Rahman and Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Farhana Yasmin spoke as special guests.

Speakers at the seminar highlighted that the digitization of various land services, such as mutation (e-namjari) and land development tax payments has significantly reduced harassment of the citizens.

The seminar saw the participation of 30 individuals, including government officials, teachers, lawyers, journalists, students and NGO representatives.
