DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel have been put on the highest alert to ensure overall security across the country for smooth and festive celebrations of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
“RAB is on highest alert to ensure the overall security in the country alongside dealing with any emerging situation to make sure a smooth and festive celebration of Eid-ul-Azha,” the force’s legal and media director Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury told a news briefing at RAB’s media centre in Kawran Bazar here.
In case of any urgent need, all the people of the country, including animal traders, are advised to contact the RAB control room for cooperation, he said.
The force has devised the overall security plan keeping in mind the cattle markets, fake currency circulations, increase of various crimes, Eid congregation, rawhide trading and the festive and smooth celebrations of the Eid, he said.
A lot of financial transactions are made in the purchase and sale of animals in the cattle markets, he said, adding that in this case, there is a fear of spreading fake currencies through unscrupulous gangs.
“There is a sharp intelligence surveillance against the groups involved in making and supplying the fake money,” he said.
In the markets, the RAB forces are assisting by installing fake note detection machines in the control room of the markets to detect fake money, he said.
“Everyone is requested to accept this service of RAB,” Intekhab said.
In addition, there is a possibility of increased activity of theft, robbery, fraudster groups, brokers, malam (ogyan) parties, and ignorant parties in the markets and centers of the cattle markets, he said.
RAB's intelligence surveillance and patrols have been increased to prevent these unwanted incidents, he said.
“RAB's surveillance will continue to identify sick cattle, artificially fattened animals using chemicals or injections, and unhealthy cattle. In addition, with the help of veterinarians, RAB magistrates are taking legal action against the sellers through mobile courts,” he said.
The collection list prescribed by the City Corporations or the Local Government must be displayed in the collection rooms of the cattle markets, he said.
“RAB will be vigilant to prevent collection exceeding the prescribed rate. If anyone collects/wants to collect more than the prescribed rate, appropriate legal action will be taken by RAB's executive magistrates through mobile courts,” he said.
If there is any complaint in this regard, everyone is requested to take the assistance of RAB Control Room, he said.
In addition, RAB's intelligence surveillance and patrol activities are being conducted to prevent various types of extortion centered on animal markets, including forcing to take cows from one market to another, he said.
“RAB's intelligence surveillance and regular patrols have been increased to prevent extortion in the transportation of animals to Dhaka. RAB patrol activities are being conducted to provide security on the road,” he said.
