DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam today said more importance should be given to publishing research that is useful for the welfare of the country, science, and people.
“Thesis grants and money allocated for research should not go to waste. The public money should benefit the people. In the field of research, attention should be given to research,” he said.

The VC said this while distributing Resident Thesis Grant to 549 residents studying in the higher medical education at BMU A Block auditorium, said a press release.

Dr Alam said, “Currently, the ratio of thesis publication is very low. It needs to be increased. On the other hand, attention should be paid to publication in index journals, BMU journals, BMDC recognized journals. Therefore, one must prepare oneself for quality medical education, medical services and research.”

BMU Pro-VC (Admin) Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, Treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhter and Registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam, among others, addressed the event with BMU Pro-VC (Research and Development) Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader in the chair.
