DHAKA, June 4, 2025 (BSS) - BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today extended his greetings and congratulations to the countrymen ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha and urged everyone to share the joy of Eid.

In a message, he also wished the Muslims all over the world including Bangladesh for continued happiness and comfort.

"Eid-ul-Azha means the festival of sacrifice. The main theme of this festival is sacrifice. It is said in the holy book, the Al-Quran, neither meat nor blood reaches Allah, but the pure desire of your heart reaches."

He added: "The pure desire of people around the world is to get close to Allah. People sacrifice animals to get close to Allah. The holy Eid-ul-Azha returns every year with a great message of self-purification, self-satisfaction and self-sacrifice".

"Despite the impact of rising commodity prices, social injustice and various crises, the hearts of the country's Muslim population are filled with the enormous joy and excitement of Eid. The people of the country have gone through a difficult period of fascism for a decade and a half. After the fall of the fascist clique on August 5 last year, people will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in a somewhat relaxed atmosphere in the country," said Tarique Rahman.

"During the fascist period, due to the illegal power and greed of the evil forces of obedience, the state and society suffered a final decline in ethics, morality, religious and social values. Now, all of us must work together to reflect the will of the people everywhere to eliminate mountain-like inequality in the current changed situation. So that terrible situations like reckless looting, corruption and money laundering do not repeat," he said.

He said animal sacrifice is a means of purification and purity. Sacrifice has been made essential for the Muslims in line with the tradition of testing patience and faith, he said, adding that the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha creates unity, solidarity and harmony in the society.

"If we reflect the main lesson of sacrifice in our lives and strive for human welfare, then we will surely be able to gain the satisfaction and closeness of the Almighty Allah, the Most Gracious. Believers must be dedicated to that effort," he said.

The acting chairman of BNP said Eid-ul-Azha is the second of the two biggest religious festivals of the Muslims in the world.

"The festival is universal. The festival inspires people to be kind to each other," he said.

In the current economic situation, he said, it will be difficult for everyone to enjoy the joy of Eid properly.

"The intensity of inflation, the abnormal increase in the prices of food items, the acute crisis of water, gas and electricity in households have plunged people into boundless misery. Low-income people are living in suffocating conditions. We all have to take care that no one goes hungry on the joyous day of Eid. Everyone has to share the joy of Eid in one row," he said.

He wished Eid-ul-Azha would bring happiness, peace, prosperity in everyone's lives and may harmony and camaraderie be created in the society.
