Padma, Jamuna Bridges set new records in daily vehicle crossings, toll collections

DHAKA, June 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Padma Bridge and Jamuna Bridge, the two largest bridges in the country operated by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, have set historic records in terms of the highest number of vehicle crossings and toll collections in a single day.

According to a press release issued today by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority under the Bridges Division of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, the record was achieved on June 5, 2025, due to well-coordinated management and strategic planning ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

On that day, a total of 52,487 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge, generating a record toll collection of over Tk 5.43 crore-the highest ever since the bridge's inauguration.

The previous record for vehicle crossings was set on June 26, 2022, with 51,316 vehicles while the previous toll collection record was over Tk 4.89 crore on April 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Jamuna Bridge also witnessed an unprecedented 64,283 vehicles crossing with toll collections reaching over Tk 4.18 crore-the highest in its operational history.
