Health officials report 386 fresh cases of dengue inflection, one death overnight

DHAKA, July 01, 2025 (BSS) – Health officials today said they recorded 386 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

“During the period, (of the 386) 163 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division” which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 19 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 73 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 38 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 30 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 16 in Khulna division, 39 in Rajshahi division and eight in Mymensingh division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 43 deaths while the disease inflicted 10,682.

The DGHS, however, said 322 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
