One dengue patient dies, 416 detected in 24 hrs

DHAKA, July 2, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 416 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

"During the period, (of the 416) 165 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division" which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 23 were hospitalized in Chattogram division, 55 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 65 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 29 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 18 in Khulna division, 10 in Mymensingh division and 51 in Rajshahi division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 44 deaths while 11,098 dengue cases were reported.    

The DGHS, however, said 332 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and infected 1, 01,214 people in the country.
