Dengue cases cross 14,000 mark this year

DHAKA, July 11, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 138 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours, the total number of cases crossed 14,000 mark this year.

"During the period, (of the 138) 60 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 28 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 19 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 24 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and one in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas and 3 in Khulna and 3 were hospitalized in Rajshahi division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 54 deaths while the disease inflicted 14,069.

The DGHS, however, said 153 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
