NARSINGDI, 12 July 2025 (BSS) - A total of 15 individuals from Narsingdi were accorded the District Shilpakala Academy Gunijan Reception in recognition of their remarkable contributions in various fields.

The award-giving ceremony was held on Thursday evening at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium, organized by the Narsingdi District Shilpakala Academy. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Narsingdi Abu Taher Mohammad Shamsuzzaman presided over the event, while Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rashed Hossain Chowdhury attended as the chief guest and presented the honorees with medals, certificates, and cash awards.

Valiant freedom fighter and senior vice-president of the Narsingdi District Unit BNP Tofazzal Hossain Master; Shibpur Upazila Unit BNP president and freedom fighter Abul Harich Rikabdar (Kala Mia); former principal of Narsingdi Government College Prof Mohammad Ali; and Narsingdi District Cultural Officer Runa Laila, among others, were present on the occasion.

The receptions were given for the last three years - 2022, 2023, and 2024.

For 2022, Dulal Saha was awarded for vocal music, Imdadul Islam Khokon for cultural research, Md Fazal Mia for folk culture, Md Mostafa Bhuiyan for Jatra arts, and Mohammad Ali Akand for Performing Arts.

In 2023, Kajol Goswami was recognized for vocal music, Anisur Rahman Shiplu for Performing Arts, Md Nurul Islam Nurchan for cultural research, Md Hasan for Jatra arts, and Md Ismail Sarkar for folk culture.

In 2024, Liton Chandra Sharma was awarded for vocal music, Mohammad Mehedi Hasan for fine arts, Shiuli Begum for Jatra art, Jharna Rani Barman for folk culture, and Mohammad Sharif Iqbal Russel for photography.

The Shilpakala Academy Gunijan Award is a state-level recognition conferred by the Government at the district level. Each year, five individuals from every district are honored for their significant contributions in various cultural fields.

Since 2013, Narsingdi has been organizing the Gunijan Award ceremony to recognize and honor distinguished individuals in diverse cultural fields.
