Health officials report 375 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 375 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

"During the period, (of the 375) 116 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division" which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 42 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 61 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 39 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 37 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 18 in Khulna division, eight in Mymensingh division, 53 in Rajshahi division and one in Sylhet Division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 60 deaths while the disease inflicted 16,281.

The DGHS, however, said 403 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
