Fascists again plotting to regain power: Fakhrul

DHAKA, July 19, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the political situation is becoming more complicated as the fascists are again forming alliances and plotting to regain power. 

He said this at a discussion titled "Expectations of mass uprising and the path to democratic transition of the country" at the Jatiya Press Club here.

Fakhrul urged the interim government to arrange national election quickly. 

"Those who do not believe in democracy are becoming active again. Criminal activities and mobocracy are increasing in a frightening way," he said.

He said BNP wants to form a democratic country with the support of the people. No obstacle can stop it. Liberation War of 1971 and independence is the main thing, there is no comprise with this," he said.

Bhashani Janashakti Party Chairman Rafiqul Islam Bablu presided over the programme while Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, Gano Sanghati Andolon Chief Coordinator Jonayed Saki, Rasthra Sangskar Andolon leader Advocate Hasnat Qaiyum, Biplobi Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Gano Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur and JSD's Tania Rob spoke, among others, on the occasion.
