Health officials report 4 deaths, 319 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

DHAKA, July 23, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 319 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least four persons in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

"During the period, (of the 319) 89 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division" which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 38 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 59 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 61 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 29 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, nine in Mymensingh division, 30 in Rajshahi division and four in Rangpur Division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 69 deaths while the disease inflicted 18,345.

The DGHS, however, said 331 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
