DHAKA, July 24, 2025 (BSS) – Two more medical teams from Singapore and China are set to arrive in Bangladesh tonight to deliver specialized care to victims of the recent jet plane crash at Milestone School and College in the capital’s Uttara, said Health Services Division Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman.

Talking to BSS at his secretariat office today, he said the Singaporean medical team, which arrived yesterday, had been evaluating digital images and video documentation of injured patients undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) for the past two days.

He added that the team expressed overall satisfaction with the standard of burn care provided in Bangladesh. However, in a few cases, they have proposed additional advanced treatment techniques, which will be implemented to the extent possible.

According to the secretary, as of now, a total of 67 people have remained admitted to hospitals: 43 at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at Dhaka Medical College, while 21 at CMH, one at Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, and one at Uttara Adhunik Medical College Hospital. Arrangements have been made to ensure the best possible treatment for them, he added.

As of today (Thursday), the hospital authorities have confirmed the deaths of 30 individuals, including a 15-year-old student named Mahtab Uddin.

The Health Service Division Secretary also said that this morning, a team of three expert physicians from an Indian hospital visited the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery and inquired about the injured patients. They too expressed satisfaction with the burn treatment practices in Bangladesh, he added.

He further said that the opinions of the medical teams from China and Singapore arriving tonight, as well as those of all other foreign medical teams who have already arrived or are expected, will be taken into account before making a decision on how many of the injured may need to be sent abroad for further advanced treatment.

The secretary highlighted that all patients admitted to public hospitals have been registered with their names and details. Among the severely injured who have died, bodies have been handed over to their families.

Therefore, there is no scope for the government to conceal any part of the list of the injured or deceased, he said.

He added that the Ministry of Health is working under directives from the highest level of government to ensure the injured receive the best and most appropriate care possible. Each patient is receiving treatment from a team of specialists to ensure maximum care.

He urged everyone to avoid any confusion or misinformation regarding the treatment of the injured.

In response to a question, the secretary said, "According to official data, 30 people have died so far. Another source has claimed 31 fatalities, but have they published a list of the names of those 31?, he asked in return.”

The Health Service Division Secretary concluded by saying that the government is maintaining a record of the injured and deceased in the Uttara Milestone School and College incident based on verified and specific information.
