Health officials report 1 death, 393 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 393 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

"During the period, (of the 393) 101 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division" which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 64 were hospitalized in Chattogram division, 52 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 60 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 46 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 26 in Khulna division, one in Mymensingh division, 38 in Rajshahi division and five in Rangpur Division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 79 deaths while the disease inflicted 20,316.

The DGHS, however, said 364 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
