DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate of Primary Education issued letters seeking renovation proposals for government primary schools designated as polling centres in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The information was disclosed in a letter signed by Mirajul Islam Ukil, Director (Planning and Development) of the Directorate of Primary Education on Tuesday.

The renovation works will be funded under the revenue sector's operational budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. All works must comply with the guidelines set in the Primary and Mass Education Ministry's circular on small repairs dated May 20, 2013, said the letter.

Officials have been instructed to collect renovation data from all upazila or thana offices under their respective districts. The compiled information should be submitted both in hard copy and PDF format using the prescribed table outlined in the circular.

Submissions should be sent to the Director (Planning and Development) via email at [email protected] and [email protected].

The letter further emphasized that no proposals should be submitted for schools or polling centres that do not require immediate renovation.

Nearly 44,000 polling centres were set up for the 12th parliamentary elections, up from over 40,000 in the 11th polls, which had more than two lakh voting rooms.

In comparison, the 10th national elections had 37,707 polling centres and 1,89,078 voting rooms, while the 9th election featured 35,263 centres and 1,77,277 voting rooms.
