Bangladesh army, US National Guard conclude weeklong joint exercise: ISPR

DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Army and Nevada National Guard troops of the United States under United States Army Pacific Command today completed their joint exercise dubbed as Tiger Lightning (TL) 2025, an ISPR statement said here.

It said the army troops of the two countries took part in the exercise at Sylhet’s Jalalabad Cantonment while it featured joint participation from the Bangladesh Army's Para-Commando Brigade and the United States' Nevada National Guard troops.

General officer commanding (GOC) and Bangladesh Army’s 17 Infantry Division and Area Commander at the northeastern region Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman and chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy in Dhaka Tracey Ann Jacobson joined the function as guests.

The ISPR said the week-long exercise, commenced on July 24, 2025, featured joint participation from the Bangladesh Army's Para-Commando Brigade and the United States' Nevada National Guard.

“The exercise brings together 66 personnel from the NVNG and 100 elite troops from the Bangladesh,” the Nevada National Guard in a statement said.

The ISPR said the participants engaged in diverse strategic and practical activities focused on coordination, responsiveness, and strengthening mutual collaboration.

Bangladesh and the United States shared longstanding cooperation on regional and global security, counterterrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance.

It said Bangladesh remained committed to combating natural disasters and global threats in close coordination with the United States and other international partners.

Exercise Tiger Lightning-2025, the ISPR said, was successfully conducted with the aim of enhancing mutual cooperation, developing strategic joint operational capabilities, and strengthening preparedness.

During the closing ceremony, each participant was awarded a certificate in recognition of the successful completion of the exercise alongside commemorative insignias as tokens of participation.

All commanders of Sylhet region, representatives from the Armed Forces Division, Army Headquarters, and various high-ranking military officials of Sylhet region were present, along with senior military officials from the United States Army, the ISPR said.
