11 students of DU get Qazi Motahar Husain gold medal

DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - Eleven students of Dhaka University (DU) were honored with the 'Professor Qazi Motahar Husain Medal' for achieving first place in their Master's examinations between 2017 and 2023. 

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan presented the medals and certificates to the students as the chief guest at a ceremony held today at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium. 

Department of Statistics, Institute of Statistical Research & Training (ISRT) and the Qazi Motahar Husain Foundation jointly organized the event, marking the 128th birth anniversary of National Professor Dr. Qazi Motahar Husain.

President of the Qazi Motahar Husain Foundation Prof Abdul Majed presided over the event while General Secretary Qazi Raunak Hossain conducted it.

Statistics department Chairman Prof Zafar Ahmed Khan was present as the special guest. Prof Dr. Bhishmadev Chowdhury of the Bengali Department presented a memorial lecture titled "  Qazi Motahar Husain through the ages." 

DU VC paid tribute to the memory of National Prof Dr. Qazi Motahar Husain, stating, “He was a renowned multifaceted personality of this subcontinent. He possessed every quality of a philosopher. He created an extraordinary bridge between science and art.”
