DHAKA, 31 July, 2025 (BSS) – Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today laid emphasis on fostering democratic values at all levels of society, saying practice of democracy helps reduce societal inequality.

He also called upon all for the cultivation of democratic values across all sectors such as schools, offices, and communities alike. Democracy would be truly sustained at the political level only when democratic practices are embedded in every sphere  of society, he added.

The adviser made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a film screening, cultural programme, award distribution, and discussion session at the Primary Training Institute (PTI) in the capital’s Mirpur.

The event was organized as part of the July Reawakening Festival 2025 by the Directorate of Primary Education.

Bidhan Ranjan further said that the sacrifices made by martyrs during the July Mass Uprising must be honoured by fulfilling their aspirations. “By continuing efforts to build a society free from discrimination will be paying the genuine tribute to their legacy.”

With Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman in the chair, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana spoke as  special guest.

At the beginning of the programme, one minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the July Uprising.

At the event, the Adviser also distributed prizes and certificates to the winners.
