Health officials report 138 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

DHAKA, Aug 1, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 138 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours in the country.

"During the period, (of the 138) 49 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, 17 in Chattogram division, 25 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 13 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 14 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 10 in Khulna division and 10 patients were hospitalized in Rajshahi division, According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 83 deaths while the disease inflicted 19,728.

The DGHS, however, said 93 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery. No new fatalities were reported during this period, the DGHS said.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
