BMU VC calls for ethical standards in doctor-pharmaceutical relations

DHAKA, August 2, 2025 (BSS)– Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam today laid emphasize on the need to elevate the relationship between physicians and the pharmaceutical industry to a higher ethical standard.

He made this emphasis while addressing a scientific seminar as the chief guest, organized by the Bangladesh Renal Association at a hotel in the capital.

The seminar, titled “Improvement of Quality of Life in CKD Patients: Managing Pruritus and MBD”, featured a keynote presentation by Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam on “Ethical Considerations for Attending Pharmaceutical Seminars: Balancing Ethics, Academic Integrity and Professional Responsibilities”.

Special guest at the seminar was former principal of Chittagong Medical College  Prof Dr. Imran Bin Yunus, while Dr. Golam Mahbub Sikder of Cumilla Medical College and Hospital presented a special documentary on the July mass uprising.

The event was attended by Convener of Bangladesh Renal Association Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Professor Dr. Pradip Kumar Dutta, Professor Dr. Abdul Mukit, Professor Dr. Dhrubo Das, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Dr. Syed Mahtab Ul Islam, Dr. Enamul Kabir, and Dr. Anisuzzaman, along with other physicians affiliated with the association.
