DHAKA, Aug 2, 2025 (BSS) - The Police Headquarters (PHQ) today warned of strict legal action against those involved in spreading false propaganda by circulating a fake letter using the name and letterhead of the PHQ.

In an official statement, the PHQ said a fabricated letter is being shared on social media platforms and several online media outlets, falsely attributing it to the PHQ.

The said letter was not issued by any department of Bangladesh Police, the statement clarified.

It said the letter, which carries misleading and unethical content, goes against the principles and policies followed by the PHQ.

The PHQ further stated that the person mentioned as the signatory in the letter is not employed in the department referenced in the forged document.

Strict action will be taken under the law against those involved in the creation or distribution of such fake letters, the statement warned.
