DHAKA, Aug 3, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam today expressed deep shock at the death of Professor M Shamsher Ali, an eminent nuclear physicist, a former professor of Dhaka University and the founder of Open University.

In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
 
The information adviser said nuclear scientist Prof Shamsher Ali has made outstanding contributions to the Bangladesh's education sector.
 
Noting that Prof Shamsher Ali was a versatile talent, Mahfuj Alam said his death is an irreparable loss to the country.
 
Prof Shamsher Ali, a pioneering educationist and a leading voice in science advocacy in Bangladesh, passed away in the early hours of today at a city hospital. He was 87.
