Health officials report 343 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

DHAKA, Aug 03, 2025 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 343 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

“During the period, (of the 343) 111 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division” which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 51 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 54 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 59 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 64 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas and three in Mymensingh division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 84 deaths while the disease inflicted 21,670.

The DGHS, however, said 337 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
