NATORE, Aug 3, 2025 (BSS) - Labour and Employment and Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (R.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain today handed over cheques for medical and educational assistance to 22 distressed workers and their families at a ceremony at Deputy Commissioner's Office here.

This assistance was provided from the funds of the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation, which will be used for the families of deceased workers, scholarships for students and emergency medical care, said an official handout.

The adviser said the assistance was provided based on the application of the workers.

Sakhawat said since there are big industries like PRAN-RFL and Kisan in Natore, the workers here are working hard. However, the current facilities for their treatment are inadequate, he mentioned.

In this regard, he informed about the plan to build specialized hospitals in labor-intensive areas and reserve separate beds in hospitals for workers in each district.

He also suggested quickly completing the election of trade unions.

Senior government officials concerned and trade union leaders were present at the event.
