Adviser visits HSIA to review measures against airfare hike

Dhaka, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) – Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin visited Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here this evening to assess the effectiveness of measures taken to curb abnormal air ticket price hikes and fraudulent practices.

During the visit, the adviser spoke with passengers and listened to their grievances, said a press release.

He later held a meeting with senior officials of the relevant agencies, where he stressed the need for improving the quality of passenger services.

The meeting underscored enhancing mobile court operations through the deployment of additional magistrates, incorporating mobile courts into the Civil Aviation Rules, expediting services at the Expatriate Welfare Desk, and addressing manpower shortages at the Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

The adviser said swift implementation of the ministry’s directives would make airport services more transparent, efficient and passenger-friendly.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Nasreen Jahan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, and Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Dr Md Shafiqul Rahman, among others, were present.
