DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain had open talks with the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London after a long gap.

On Monday evening (London time), Dr. Mosharraf and his son, BNP National Executive Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Maruf Hossain, met with Tarique Rahman.

About the emotions of reunion with the Acting Chairman after such a long time, Dr. Mosharraf told the news agency, "After a long time, I had open conversation with our Acting Chairman. It is difficult to express the feelings in words."

Although, he said, they have had virtual meetings once or twice a week, it was back in 2008 when they last met in person. "We were arrested on the same day and spent a month together in jail. After that, he went to London and we hadn't met since," he added.

"Yesterday, after so many years, we finally met. We shared long-overdue chat, had in-depth political discussions and I felt a great emotional relief," he said.

He went on, "I pray for the long life and success of our leader Tarique Rahman for the well-being of Bangladesh".

About Tarique Rahman's return to Bangladesh, Dr. Mosharraf said, "Yes, he said he would return very soon, though he has not yet fixed a specific date."

Dr. Mosharraf also said that he is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Thursday, following the completion of his medical treatment, departing tomorrow (Wednesday).
