Govt to procure 65,000 MTs fertilizer

DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some 65,000 metric tons of fertilizer as well as the construction work for building a 10,000 MTs capacity buffer godown in Bhola to meet the growing demand for the country.

The approvals came from the 33rd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held today. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting virtually.

Following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will procure 25,000 metric tons of TSP fertilizer under the 3rd lot under state-level agreement with Tunisia from Groupe Chimique Tunisien (Tunisia) with around Taka 184.66 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $602.50.

Besides, the BADC will procure 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer under the 3rd lot under state-level agreement with Morocco from OCP, NUTRICROPS, Morocco with around Taka 383.16 crore where per ton fertilizer would cost $781.33.

Following a proposal from the Ministry of Food, the government will procure the construction work of one buffer godown in Bhola with 10,000 metric tons capacity from M/S MBL-REL (JV), Dhaka with around Taka 49.49 crore under the 1st revised project for construction of 34 buffer godowns in various parts of the country facilitating preservation and distribution of fertilizer.

Following a proposal from the Power Division, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) will procure the GT-2 maintenance work for Shahzibazar 330 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant from SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Company Ltd China with around Taka 111.18 crore.

Besides, the meeting approved another proposal from the Secondary and Higher Education Division for printing, binding and supply of some 3,62,91,207 textbooks under 94 lots of class 4 and 5 for the academic year 2026.
