Titas conducts drive to disconnect illegal gas connections in Munshiganj, Rupganj

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has conducted two separate drives in Munshiganj and Rupganj to disconnect illegal gas connections.

According to a press release, illegal gas connections at six locations were cut off during the operations, and a large quantity of unauthorized pipelines and equipment was seized.

On Tuesday, drives were carried out in Muktarpur, Panchasar, and Munshiganj Sadar to remove illegal gas lines.

Illegal gas usage was identified at three locations. Among them, M/S Tanmoy Fishing Net Industrial Limited -an industrial establishment- was found to be unlawfully using gas through a residential connection.

Approximately 250 feet of hose pipe used in the company's boiler was seized, and the connection was permanently disconnected. This action is expected to save around Tk 440,000 worth of gas per month.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Mahna, Adhuria, and Dupatara areas of Rupganj, illegal gas connections to 310 houses over a 3.5-kilometer stretch were severed.

During the drive, 140 feet of 2-inch and 1.5-inch diameter pipes and 200 feet of plastic pipe were removed and seized. Each supply line was permanently disconnected from its source.
