Traffic diversion at Karnaphuli tunnel for maintenance work

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) has announced a traffic diversion at the Karnaphuli Tunnel due to scheduled maintenance work.

The routine maintenance work, including jet fan cleaning and servicing as well as road marking, starting today, will continue till August 30, said a press release of BBA today.

During this period, it said, from 11:00 am each night until 5:00am the following morning, traffic from the "Patenga to Anwara" tube will be diverted and controlled movement will be allowed through the "Anwara to Patenga" tube.

Depending on traffic volume, passengers may need to wait a minimum of five minutes to a maximum of ten minutes on both ends of the tunnel during the maintenance period, it added.

The BBA has sought the sincere cooperation of citizens to ensure safe and effective routine maintenance of the Karnaphuli Tunnel.
