CHATTOGRAM, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS)- Chattogram University (CU) administration has filed a case against around 1,000 known and unknown individuals over recent clashes between students and locals.

Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, CU Acting Registrar, said, "The university security department filed the case with Hathazari Police Station regarding the attack on students."

The case names 98 identified individuals and 800-1,000 unknown persons. A general diary has also been filed over the theft of weapons from the security department.

The clashes followed an alleged assault on a female student by a mess guard near the campus. Over 1,200 people-including students, villagers, the pro-vice-chancellor, and the proctor-were injured.

University officials condemned the violence and assured that necessary action would be taken. Security has been heightened on campus, and senior officials are closely monitoring the situation, sources said.
