55 students of Cumilla University receive VC award

CUMILLA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 55 meritorious students of Cumilla University (CoU) have been awarded the prestigious 'Vice-Chancellor (VC) Award' for their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

The award ceremony was held this morning at the virtual conference room of the university's administrative building. 

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Dr. Md. Haider Ali presided over the event.

Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Rezaul Karim, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, CoU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Masuda Kamal and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman joined the event as special guests.

The recipients were selected from the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic sessions. 

Additionally, students from the 2016-2017 academic year of the Pharmacy Department, which follows a five-year curriculum, were also included in the list of awardees.

The 'Vice-Chancellor Award' was conferred under four categories: Meritorious (highest results in graduation), Meritorious (highest results in two semesters of graduation), Meritorious and Financially Disadvantaged and Excellence in Sports.

Among the awardees, 43 are female and 12 are male students. Each recipient received a certificate and a cash prize of Tk 10,000.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Haider Ali congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue contributing to the nation through their knowledge and dedication.
