JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - A seminar titled 'Ensuring Ethical Practice in Teaching and Research: An Overview' was held today at Wazed Miah Science Research Centre of Jahangirnagar University (JU).

The Faculty of Biological Science organised the programme where JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan attended as the chief guest, while Head and Representative of UNESCO Bangladesh Susan Vize presented the keynote paper.

Addressing the event, the JU VC said, "What is written in textbooks about ethics often remains absent in our real-life practice. We must ensure that ethical guidelines are followed not only in principle but also in practice."

He further stressed the need for protecting research participants, obtaining informed consent, and maintaining confidentiality whenever required.

Prof Kamrul also expressed hope that professionalism, honesty and respect would remain at the core of teaching and research at JU.

The seminar was presided over by acting Dean of the Biological Sciences Faculty Prof Mohammad Mafruhi Sattar and coordinated by Prof Dr Saquiba Yesmine of the Pharmacy Department.
