Dengue claims two more lives, 445 hospitalized in 24 hrs

DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Two people died of dengue today while at least 445 patients with the mosquito-borne disease were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours.

With the latest figures, the total number of dengue fatalities in the country this year has risen to 127, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly hospitalized patients, 78 were from Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 98 from Chattogram division (outside the city corporation), 69 from Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 59 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 87 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 24 from Mymensingh division (outside the city corporation), 21 from Rajshahi division (outside the city corporation) and three from Sylhet division (outside the city corporation).

In the same period, 417 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals across the country. 

A total of 32,946 dengue cases have been recorded nationwide this year. Of these, 59.8 percent are men and 40.2 percent are women, the DGHS statement added.
