DHAKA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan has said the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election will set an example for the nation.

“The entire nation has its eyes on the DUCSU election. We’re going to have a historic election after many years. The DUCSU election will be an example for the nation,” he said.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after holding a meeting on the security arrangement for peaceful holding of the DUCSU election at the Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat here today.

The VC said members of the law enforcement agencies will be deployed on the university campus in large numbers to ensure foolproof security.

Alongside the law enforcers, the volunteer teachers have been working to ensure constant security for peaceful holding of the DUCSU polls, he said, adding that a three-tier security arrangement has been made to maintain law and order during the polls.

“There is no big apprehension so far around the election,” he confirmed.

He also said that the election has a national importance despite the fact that the election is Dhaka University centric.

“Considering the matter, every possible preparation has been taken to pursue a peaceful election,” he said.

Additionally, the DU VC in a video message said, “Tomorrow is that ‘auspicious moment’ when the long cherished DUCSU election will be held. It’s a historic moment for the university.”

The VC said there are 40,000 voters in the DUCSU election. The voting will be held at 810 booths in eight polling centres. There will be special arrangement for the women voters.

“The students will come to exercise their votes without any fear and we will wait for them,’ he said.

He continued that they are making coordination among the voting centres after separating those from the halls to hold the election in a free and transparent manner.

The vote counting at each of the polling centres will be screened on the monitors set up outside of the centres.
