VC breaks hunger strike of 9 CU students after 52 hours

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - Students at Chattogram University (CU) ended their 52-hour hunger strike demanding justice for the attack on students.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yahya Akhtar offered them juice to break the hunger strike this afternoon.

Out of the 9 students, 4 who became sick were hospitalized. Professor Dr. Yahya Akhtar assured the students that an investigation committee would be formed to address their demands and promised a solution after discussions on Sunday.

He stated, "We have carefully reviewed the 7 points of their demands and will work sincerely to fulfill them."

The hunger strike began on September 10 at 12:30 pm in front of the proctor's office under the banner of 'Rights Conscious Students'.

Discussions with the students are scheduled to be held next Sunday, the source added.
