GAZIPUR, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Sharodiya Durga Puja celebrations are set to begin at 461 mandaps across Gazipur, with strict security arrangements in place to ensure a peaceful and joyous occasion for the Hindu community.
Gazipur's Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Md. Yaber Sadik confirmed that 340 puja mandaps have been set up across the district's six upazilas.
Meanwhile, 121 mandaps will host celebrations within the Gazipur Metropolitan area, according to Deputy Police Commissioner of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Md. Rabiul Hasan.
Preparations at the mandaps are nearly complete, with colorful decorations and special lighting already installed. Final touches, including painting, are currently underway.
Puja organizers said the festival will conclude on October 2 with the immersion of idols.
Dr. Sadik said all mandaps have been categorized into three security levels-highly important, important, and general. He added that no mandaps have been classified as high-risk this year, and there are no known security threats.
To maintain law and order, a large number of police personnel will be deployed in shifts across all mandaps in both the metropolitan and upazila areas. Members of Ansar will also be stationed at key locations to assist police based on the importance of each mandap.
