Int'l Day for Universal Access to Information to be observed tomorrow

DHAKA, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS) - The International Day for Universal Access to Information will be observed here tomorrow as elsewhere in the world with the aim of raising mass awareness about the right to information.

This year's theme has been set as "Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age", said a PID release today.

The UNESCO-recognized day is observed globally every year on September 28.

Marking the day, various programmes will be organized across the country, including Dhaka.

As part of the programmes, a discussion meeting will be held at 3 pm tomorrow at the Information Commission auditorium in Agargaon. Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam is scheduled to join the discussion as chief guest.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana would join the event as special guest, while the meeting will be presided over by Secretary of the Information Commission Nur Md. Mahbubul Haque.

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director of Dr Iftekharuzzaman and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Fahmida Khanom will join as discussants.
