Fakhrul calls for mainstreaming mutual harmony for a prosperous country

DHAKA, May 1, 2026(BSS) - LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called on all to mainstream mutual harmony among the communities to build a prosperous country with collective efforts.

"All religions of the world teach human welfare, peace and compassion. By maintaining mutual harmony and overcoming challenges collectively, it is possible to build a prosperous and self-reliant country," he said.

He made the remarks as the chief guest while addressing a programme, organized by the Bangladesh Buddhist Federation on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, held at the Merul Badda here.

Stressing the importance of avoiding all forms of violence and upholding human values, the minister called upon all to rise above divisions and unite under a shared Bangladeshi identity to build a happy and developed nation.

Speaking as a special guest, Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan said the combined efforts of people of all religions are essential for the country's development and progress. 

He urged everyone to work together in the national interest.

Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam and Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr A B M Obaidul Islam were also present at the event.

Earlier, at the beginning of the event, Independence Award-winning eminent educationist Professor Dr Sukomal Barua was accorded a reception.
