Heavy rainfall likely over country in next 72hrs

DHAKA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast heavy rainfall across the country for the next 72 hours, commencing from 9 am today.

"Due to influence of a well-marked low over the west-central Bay and adjoining areas and an active monsoon, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 72 hours from 9am today," said a special bulletin of BMD.

Due to heavy to very heavy rainfall, landslides may occur in hilly areas of Chattogram division, it warned.

Besides, temporary waterlogging may occur in parts of Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, the bulletin added.

Dhaka recorded the highest rainfall of 206 millimeters in the country in the last 24 hours from 9 am on Tuesday to 9 am today, a regular bulletin of the BMD said.

The highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded 37.6 degrees Celsius in Sayedpur station while today's lowest temperature was 23.5 degrees Celsius in Tangail station.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 5:47 pm today and will rise at 5:50 am tomorrow.
