Two more die of dengue; 396 hospitalized in 24 hrs

DHAKA, Oct 02, 2025 (BSS) – Dengue claimed two more lives in the last 24 hours while 396 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.

It was disclosed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

Among the newly admitted patients, 90 were from areas under Dhaka division (outside the city corporation areas), 87 from Barishal division, 96 from Chattogram division, 15 from Rajshahi division, 52 from Dhaka North City Corporation and 56 from Dhaka South City Corporation.

During the last 24 hours, 409 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 45,682, the DGHS said.

Since January, a total of 48,228 dengue patients have been hospitalised across the country. With the two latest deaths, the total number of fatalities from dengue this year has risen to 202.

According to DGHS data, 101,214 people were infected with dengue and 575 people died in 2024.
