DHAKA, Oct 5, 2025 (BSS) – Following a decision by the Dhaka University Syndicate, two separate committees have been formed to prevent sexual harassment and abuse as well as bullying and ragging on campus.

Professor Dr. Upama Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, has been appointed convener of the ‘Investigation Committee for Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abuse’, while Professor Dr. Shahnaz Huda of the Law Department has been appointed convener of the ‘Anti-Bullying and Ragging Committee’.

The office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) has already issued letters to all faculty deans, hall provosts, hostel wardens, department chairpersons, institute directors, and the proctor, instructing them to regularly update the respective committee conveners on all complaints related to sexual harassment, abuse, bullying, and ragging.

The letters also directed all faculties, departments, institutes, halls, hostels, and the proctor’s office, to set up complaint boxes and forward the received complaints to the respective committee conveners on a weekly basis.

Additionally, departments and institutes have been advised to organize workshops involving teachers and students to raise awareness and address issues related to sexual harassment, abuse, bullying, and ragging.
