JU ranks among top universities in Bangladesh in THE rankings

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) has once again secured its position as one of the top universities in Bangladesh, according to the latest United Kingdom-based educational magazine 'Times Higher Education' (THE) World University Rankings for 2026.

The ranking, jointly produced with Elsevier Journal, was officially released today.

According to the list, top five Bangladeshi universities - Jahangirnagar University, Daffodil International University, Gazipur Agricultural University, North South University, and University of Dhaka - have been placed in the global ranking range of 801-1000. 

The performance indicators are grouped into five areas, namely Teaching (the learning environment); Research Environment (volume, income, and reputation); Research Quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence, and research influence); International Outlook (staff, students and research); and Industry (income and patents).

This year, JU earned 19.7 points in teaching, 10 in Research Environment, 77.6 in Research Quality, 20.4 in Industry and 49.6 in International Outlook.

A total of 28 Bangladeshi universities were included in the global ranking this year.

This year's ranking features a total of 3,118 universities worldwide. The University of Oxford topped the list, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in second place, while Princeton University and the University of Cambridge jointly held the third position.
