Seeds, fertilizers distributed among farmers in Narail

NARAIL, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - Vegetables seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed today among small and marginal farmers of Sadar upazila here under agriculture incentive programme.

The incentives were distributed among the farmers under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Incentive Programme to increase winter vegetable production in homesteads and fields. 

Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Narail Muhammad Arifur Rahman inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at Sadar Upazila Agricultural Extension Department office premises.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sanchita Biswas presided over the programme. Among others, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Rokonuzzaman, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Saurav Debnath, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Meherunnesa and Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers of various unions were present at the programme. 

Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Rokonuzzaman told BSS that in the 2025-26 fiscal year, the District Agriculture Department took the initiative to distribute free seeds and fertilizers among 660 small and marginal farmers of one municipality and 13 unions of Sadar upazila to increase the production of winter vegetables in the homestead and field under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Incentive Programme. 

Among the total, 230 farmers will get brinjal, spinach, red cabbage, beans, gourd, sweet pumpkin, radish seeds for cultivating vegetables on fallow land in the courtyard of their houses. 

In addition, 70 farmers will get hybrid gourd seeds for cultivating vegetables in suitable places in the field, 120 farmers will get pumpkin seeds, 120 farmers will get cucumber seeds and 120 farmers will get hybrid brinjal seeds. 

Besides, each farmer will get 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.
